There are many ways for you to get in touch with us, whatever your needs.

If you feel unwell or have a clinical question, please contact your GP or the 111 service.

NHS inform helpline

If you’re well, but have a question about your health or local NHS services, phone our helpline on 0800 22 44 88.

Our helpline is open Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 6.00pm.

Language Line

If English isn't your first or preferred language, you can still use our service.

We use an interpretation service called Language Line, to support callers who can't or prefer not to speak English.

Language Line is free to use.

How to use this service

To use Language Line:

  1. Phone 0800 22 44 88
  2. Tell the call handler that you need an interpreter
  3. Tell the call handler the name of your preferred language

Once you're connected to an interpreter, you'll have a three-way conversation with the call handler to get the advice you need.

British Sign Language (BSL)

British Sign Language (BSL) users can contact us direct by using Contact Scotland BSL

You can use the Contact Scotland BSL interpretation service to contact NHS inform day or night.

We also have BSL videos for a range of health and care topics.

Relay UK

If you use a textphone you can contact us on 18001 0800 22 44 88. Or, you can use the Relay UK app.

Webchat

Webchat is a communication tool that operates through your web browser on screen and connects you with our health information team in real-time. NHS inform web chat is open daily for general health and non-symptomatic enquiries only.
